About MCVI

MCVI believes its ultimate role in the community is to improve the quality of life for individuals with cardiac related health problems.

We believe that convenient access to leaders in the field of cardiovascular services throughout Northeastern and Central Michigan is of utmost importance. Therefore, we provide a network of approximately 17 locations within Michigan. Our staff is strategically placed throughout the state to provide individualized attention in your community. MCVI's ultimate goal is to attend to your medical needs, educate you about cardiac care and management, and help you feel better.

We also provide access to emergency cardiac care and consultation 24 hours a day. If you need emergency cardiac care any time, day or night at Covenant HealthCare,  St. Mary's of Michigan, Mid-Michigan Medical Center- Midland, or Bay Regional Medical Center, one of our 29 physicians will be available to provide treatment and consultation.

We believe in providing our patients with the most contemporary and state-of-the-art methods in the field of cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. Our nationally recognized team of cardiologists and surgeons specialize in the latest techniques in heart care and heart disease management. These techniques include electrophysiology, imaging and diagnostic testing, and invasive and interventional procedures. We also participate in many drug and device research studies usually available only to patients living in large metropolitan areas.

Who we are

MCVI is a diverse group of talented associates led by physicians practicing in the numerous sub-specialties of cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. We pride ourselves on being the largest cardiovascular service provider north of Detroit. We believe the size of our practice and the strength of our associates allow us an advantage in terms of providing the most timely, efficient, effective and highest quality cardiac care to you.

Our History

MCVI originated on July 1, 1998, when physicians and associates from The Heart Group, P.C. and Valley Heart Institute of Saginaw combined their talents to form one of the largest medical cardiology group practices in the midwest. The legacy of both practices dates as far back as 1979 when cardiac care in the Saginaw community was in its infancy.

Since then, three additional physician practices have merged with MCVI.  On July 1, 1999, Great Lakes Cardiovascular Surgery joined, bringing five cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons.  Great Lakes Cardiovascular Surgery was and remains the pre-eminent cardiac and thoracic surgery provider in the Mid-Michigan area. Dr. Robert Genovese of the Midland Heart Group joined forces with MCVI on October 1, 1999, bringing his many years of experience to the group. Dr. Genovese's office remains in Midland.  The most recent addition to MCVI is Dr. Roger Kahn and his staff.

We welcome all of our new physicians and their respective associates and believe that each one is a tremendous asset to our patients and organization. In addition, we believe that the size and geographic availability that our strategic alliances provide to our patients allows us an advantage in providing the highest quality cardiac care.
