As a lifelong resident of Saginaw, I have had the opportunity to work with
many organizations over the years. One in particular is the Michigan
CardioVascular Institute RiverWalk Committee. MCVI has been one of the many
leaders in the community to show a commitment of caring and responsibility.
On Saturday, Sept. 9, the committee hosts the Third Annual MCVI RiverWalk along
the Saginaw riverfront.
The funds raised from this year's walk benefit the Underground Railroad, the
Mid-Michigan Children's Museum and the MCVI Foundation.
In past years, the river walk has benefited the GreenHouse Gathering Place, the
Cathedral District Youth Center, The Riverfront Development Commission, the East
Side Soup Kitchen and the MCVI Foundation.
The proceeds were split equally to further these groups' missions.
This is an event for all ages. I have walked the course with my 79-year-old dad
for the first two years, and look forward to walking with him this year.
Anyone who would like to participate in this fun and healthy event should
contact MCVI's Becky Felker at 754-3222 to obtain a packet for the walk to help
raise funds for the Underground Railroad, the Mid-Michigan Children's Museum and
the MCVI Foundation. Fun activities are planned for the entire family after the
walk. Please call soon and mark Sept. 9 on your calendar to walk and help raise
money for three wonderful
organizations. << Back |
