The objective of the Women's Health Initiative is to provide community education to address the following issues:
- Become your own health advocate where heart disease is concerned - How to recognize and what to do about heart symptoms - Questions to ask your physician and how to become more proactive in describing your symptoms and heart history - More information on ways of reducing your risk factors - Access to new information about existing diagnostic techniques and how they help women - The physicians need to provide information and offer non-invasive testing options for the prevention, detection and treatment of heart disease in women
