Study Purpose:
Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Multicenter Acute Study of Clinical Effectiveness of Nesiritide in Subjects With Decompensated Heart Failure

Objective:
To find out if the drug that is being researched, nesiritide (trade name Natrecor)as compared to placebo (dummy pill or an inactive substance which looks like the real drug), plus the usual treatment for acute decompensated heart failure (standard of care) helps improve your breathing difficulties, reduce the chance that you will be readmitted to the hospital and patients live longer.
