Study
Purpose:
A Randomized, Double-Blind,
Double-Dummy, Parallel Group, Phase 3 Efficacy and Safety Study of CGT-2168
Compared with Clopidogrel to Reduce Upper Gastrointestinal Events Including
Bleeding and Symptomatic Ulcer Disease
Objective:
To compare the rates of stomach
ulcers and stomach bleeding that occurs when taking either CGT-2168 (the new
combination drug) and aspirin or Plavix® (a drug to prevent blood clots) and
aspirin. Aspirin also helps prevent blood clots, and is often used with Plavix®.
The study doctors will also monitor both the safety of the new drug, and whether
it works effectively as a combination treatment for blood-clotting and digestive
tract disorders.
