Study Purpose:
A Randomized, Double-blind, Parallel Group,
Phase 3, Efficacy and Safety Study of AZD6140 Compared with Clopidogrel for
Prevention of Vascular Events in Patients with Non-ST or ST Elevation Acute
Coronary Syndromes (ACS) – PLATO
Objective:
This study is being carried out to see if an
investigational medicine called AZD6140, is effective in stopping the formation
of new blood clots. This study medication may reduce the risk of medical
problems such as heart attack or stroke in patients like you. A study
medication is a medication that has not been approved by the US Food and Drug
Administration (FDA). It is currently only available to patients in this
study. In this study, AZD6140 will be compared with clopidogrel (Plavix®).
