Study Name: Randomized Evaluation of Long term anticoagulant therapy (RE-LY)

Objective: This is a comparison study looking at efficacy and safety of two blinded doses of dabigitran etexilate with open label Wafarin for the prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patient’s with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (compares wafarin- a vitamin K antagonist with dabigitran- a direct thrombin inhibitor).
